YouTube ASR Summarize (local, no tokens)

Use this skill to summarize a YouTube video even when subtitles are missing by downloading audio and running local speech-to-text.

Quick start

1) One-time deps

brew install yt-dlp ffmpeg

2) Create venv + install ASR

python3 -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate
pip install faster-whisper

3) Run

python3 scripts/youtube_asr_summarize.py \

Outputs in --out:

• summary.md（含：链接 + 摘要 + 时间轴）
• transcript.txt
• transcript.srt

Notes

• Default model small (CPU/int8) is fast; use --model medium for better accuracy.

这个工具能本地完成 YouTube 视频转写和总结，无需付费 API，隐私性好。功能流程完整，文档易读。缺点是摘要生成针对特定领域（中文金融）优化明显，对其他内容类型的总结效果可能不佳。另外缺少规范的依赖声明和测试，对普通用户不够友好。总体属于可用但需针对性使用的工具。
